About me:

My name is Isabel Bos. I am a professional singer and chorister in the Baltimore area, and I am fascinated with the unique storytelling capacity of music. My goal when starting new projects is to center the program around the audience, so they can truly leave the world at the door, and allow themselves to be transported to new places, consider new ideas, and to simply exist in the here and now.

My most recent project was a recital inspired by my journey walking el camino Frances de Compostela, which is a medieval pilgrimage beginning in St. Jean Pied de Port, France, and ending in Compostela, Spain. This was truly a life changing adventure, and I really wanted to give my audience a sense of the culture and tradition which makes the camino so special. To do so, I performed folk music in each language and regional dialect I encountered, which were: French, Occitan, Basque, Castilian, and Galician. In order to capture the antiquity of the journey, I collaborated with two other sopranos to perform pieces from the Codex Calixtinus—which was an 11th century guidebook written pilgrims on the el camino, and containing the earliest examples of music written in parts. A recording of this recital is linked on my media page!

I am currently a senior at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, where I study in the studio of Tony Arnold. I am working towards my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a minor in World Languages.
